Final words

11th August 2016

We are home. Back to our lovely home, and we have the cats home with us. The washing is on. I'm cooking (boo).

It's the end of the road, literally.

I hope that you have enjoyed following us, and enjoyed our observations and photos.

Some facts for you - in the last 21 days;

  • Andrew has driven 1,420 miles (and only almost hit a car once)

  • Oliver asked "are we nearly there?", once

  • We've eaten 8 burgers (not many really)

  • We've slept in 10 different beds

When asked for our favourite moment -

Andrew - Stargazing in Yosemite National Park

Alison - Stargazing in Yosemite National Park

Oliver - Stargazing in Yosemite National Park

If we could be transported back by time travel, to one place we visited, for one day and one night, where would we choose?

Andrew - Laguna Beach

Alison - Coronado

Oliver - Yosemite National Park

Best burger:

Andrew - Carls Jnr

Alison - Carls Jnr

Oliver - Carls Jnr

There are a few people to thank before closing off:

Andrew - for driving us everywhere, and for being the most amazing proofreader of each blog post, even when it was late and he wanted to sleep.

Oliver - for not moaning about the time spent in the car, and for being able to find, and in some cases, hack into, Wifi in the most obscure places on earth.

Cousin Sarah - for her help and advice for booking hotels and car hire, and for meeting us for dinner in San Francisco - after all we saw on this holiday, that night was still a highlight above many others.

Jason - for all of his passion and hints and tips on the trip, even down to the best way to pack. He gave up so much time for us, even when on his own holiday.

My sister - for loving every post with a huge outpouring of enthusiasm and love.

My mum - for learning Facebook so that she could keep in touch and for reading my blog everyday over her breakfast.

My mother-in-law - for tuning in everyday and emailing her comments and questions and giving me ideas about what a reader might want to know.

And for anyone that has read this and sent me a message - knowing that you've been reading has encouraged me to include as much detail as possible, even when I was so tired and crippled by motel wifi speeds that were slower than a sloth. Because of you, I have a document of a once in a life time trip that will last forever.

If I am ever asked advice about this trip in the future, I would say this - take as many weeks away as you possibly can, three weeks was not enough, and we passed by so many places that we wished we could have stopped at.

Thanks for reading. We have been truly blessed to have experienced this trip.

Over and out.
